"Cleaning the Parrot" by Robert Shultz
I've been enjoying the Parrot confectionery store since 1990. I used to clean the store at night for Servicemaster contract services. I still frequently stop in for candy and one pound boxes of candy to send to my relatives down South, in winter of course. We all love the taste of Parrot candy -as a

From the 50's to today by Judy Reynoso

"I am 67 and my mother used to tell me she hung out at the Parrot when she was young.  Grew up in Helena and the Parrot was the teen hang-out in the 50's.  On Saturdays you could hardly get in the place! The candy was unbelievable. ...."   Continued...

Love of Chocolates    by : Ellen Swift

"My family of five children and several grandchildren all dearly love your chocolates and roasted nuts. I have been enjoying your treats since 1978 when my daughter moved to Helena to marry and to work. I usually send your treats to my family every Christmas. This year I also sent out your treats in June for a mid summer treat. Your chocolates and all your nuts are absolutely perfect and delic...."  Continued....

A Family's Love of Chocolate    by : Gary Darlow

"I grew up in Helena, and I remember cleaning the snow off the sidewalk at the Parrot once or twice. As a kid, I was amazed at the variety of candies. I started buying the chocolate for my mom for the holidays. She grew up in Helena also, and said her and her friends would stop in at the Parrot after school for a soda. Occasionally I will buy these candies for my customers and have always had posit...."  Continued....

Family Inspired    by : Kally Porrini

"Stories of the Parrot began with my dad, John Fay. He often told us of a neighbor (and a friend of the owners) who would gather the neighborhood kids, escort them to the Parrot and serve them all ice cream from behind the counter. My mom, Ann Fay, told stories of meeting high school friends at the Parrot for sodas and socializing. I remember sitting in a booth with my grandmother, Gertrude Fay, tr...."  Continued....

Anticipated Visits to the Parrot    by : Charlotte Orr

"My Aunt Charlotte Quiglye, my Dad, Charles and their little sister, Dorthoy lived in the big house on the corner of Hauser and Madison in Helena. Only my Aunt Charlotte remains (she turned 103 last September). She lives in Seattle but still has fond memories of going to the Parrot with her mother for lunch and Turkish paste. They spent their summers ranching near Ringling so they really looked for...."  Continued....

My Own Concoction    by : Harry Downs

"Though absent from God's country for too long, we enjoyed your goodies on visits to our first home. We now can wheel down to city center from the east side to appease our appetite with a tamale, chili, or "Tumor". This last is a concoction I take credit for while at the Parrot, during my days at the Cathedral. It is chocolate ice cream with cherry syrup on top -I've gone to heaven.

Candy from Cousins    by : Homet Hauke

"I learned about the Parrot from a cousin who lives in the Helena area. She sent me candy from the Parrot twice. I liked the candy so much that I have been purchasing candy from the Parrot every since.

Traveling Candy    by : Bea Steen

"I moved to Helena in 1981 and found the Parrot to become my one stop gift store. The awesome selection of Parrot candy has been taken in the car, on the plane, and even on the Amtrak. I take it with me when I visit, or send to friends and relatives as far away as North Carolina, Arizona, California, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and even Canada. However, my Uncle Wesser and my Godmother Auntie Lou in...."  Continued....

The Parrot!    by : Sharmin Carlson

"As a child in 1955 I left Good 'Ol Montana for Oregon. My Grandparents were the Ehlers, who owned Ehlers Corner Store 5 miles out in the Valley. The store is gone now, but many memories linger. I have great memories of the Parrot also. We went there for special treats -I always chose a cherry coke. The aroma of the Parrot is still in my mind. When I do get to Helena I always stop in the Parrot's d...."  Continued....

Holiday Candy    by : Nell Johnson

"Every year at Christmas my sister remembers us with a gift of candy from the Parrot. My husband's aunt, while living, sent us candy on Valentine's Day. She also sent candy to her own family on holidays. A nephew living in Germany was sent candy. Imagine that! Candy sent from Montana to someone living in Germany, which is noted for their fine candy. Going to the Parrot is like going ...."  Continued....
